The third event of “Japanese event with Oshogatsu” series “Tanabata with Oshogatsu”
This is one of Mr.Oshogatsu’s contemporary art project.
「日本の行事×お正月」シリーズ第三弾「七夕×お正月」
これはミスターお正月のコンテンポラリーアート（現代美術）プロジェクトの一作品です。

Several concepts are at the root of this work.
この作中には、いくつかのコンセプトがその根底にあります。

Mr.Oshogatsu’s Innovative Attempt “Oshogatize Project 2018”,
This eccentric challenge that continues new year anniversary all year of 2018,
It also brings innovation and change to Japanese traditional annual events.
ミスターお正月の革新的な試み「2018年お正月化プロジェクト」、
一年中をお正月にするというエキセントリックなこのプロジェクトは、
年中行事にも革新と変革をもたらしました。

Mr.Oshogatsu, he tries to continue new year anniversary Oshogatsu all year of 2018. But when trying to make new year anniversary all year round he can not avoids conflicts with other events.
一年中をお正月にしようとする中で他の行事とのバッティングは避けて通れません。

Even when it is Setsubun,
Also at the time of the Dolls’ Festival,
Mr.Oshogatsu continued new year anniversary Oshogatsu.

And he arrived at innovative ideas that have never existed.

“Not only do I just continue on Oshogatsu, but also fusion other traditional annual events with Oshogatsu.”

節分の時も。ひな祭りの時も。
来る日も来る日もお正月を続けてきたミスターお正月は、
ただ単にお正月を続けるだけではなく、「他の年中行事とお正月を結び付ける」という、
これまでにない革新的発想へと辿り着きます。

“Oshogatsu is an event in January.”
“Setsubun is an event in February.”
“The Doll Festival is an event in March.”
「お正月は、１月の行事。」
「節分は、２月の行事。」
「ひな祭りは３月の行事。」

To our Japanese who have been bound by such stereotypes,
Mr.Oshogatsu made new breath.
そうした固定観念に縛られてきた我々日本人に、
ミスターお正月は新たな息吹を吹き込んでくれそうです。

3, “light up” / 光らせる

And further noteworthy is the concept of “light up”.
そしてさらに注目すべきは「光らせる」というコンセプトです。

It is no exaggeration to say that great progress of human beings has begun from the time when the fire is acquired, if we comprehend the history of humanity.
An iron factory was made by burning fire with a burning tree, human beings made steel progress.
When coal and oil in hand, the transport network has grown significantly with these as fuel.
Then, mechatronics and information technology developed by having a huge amount of electric power with nuclear energy in hand.
人類の歴史を紐解けば、火を手にしたときから人類の大いなる進歩が始まったと言っても過言ではありません。
焚き木で火を燃やしてたたら場が盛り、人類は鉄鋼を進歩させました。
石炭や石油を手にし、それを燃料として輸送網が大きく発達しました。
そして原子力を手にして莫大な電力を手にしたことでメカトロニクスや情報技術が発達しました。

In this way, there is great progress of “fire power” at the branch point of great progress of humanity.
思えば、このように、人類の大きな進歩の分岐点には、「火力」の大きな進歩があるのです。

There was no way to make the light at that time other than lighting a flame.
However, mankind has now become able to acquire light not by filaments or fluorescent lights but by the emission of LEDs.
A noteworthy feature of the LED is that it is different from conventional technology, it is possible to obtain light without causing so much heat generation.
お正月が始まったのは平安時代とされています。
その頃の人類には炎を灯す以外には光を手にする術はありませんでした。
ところが、人類は今や、フィラメントや蛍光灯ではなくLEDの発光によって光を手にできるようになりました。
LEDの特筆すべき特徴は、これまでのテクノロジーと違い、それほど大きな発熱をさせることなく光を得ることが出来ることにあります。

Following the progress of the civilization, we got a “Shining kagami mochi*3“.
その文明の進歩に従って「鏡餅」を光らせる。

In the Heian period when the Oshogatsu began, such a thing was never considered.
Because the way human beings obtain firepower and light is nothing but burning things.
If you tried to make a Kagami mochi a light up, it would have burned up and swollen.
お正月が始まったとされる平安時代には、このようなことは決して考えられませんでした。
なぜなら、人類が火力や光を得る方法は、物を燃やす以外にはなかったからです。
鏡餅を光らせようとすれば、燃え上がったり、膨れ上がったりしたことでしょう。

It is not an exaggeration to say that this work of making Kagami mochi shine in various colors is an innovative attempt that can be done just because of this modern age.
It can be said that it is an artistic approach unique to modern times that can not be imitated by the predecessors.
鏡餅を様々な色に光らせるこの作品は、まさにこの現代だからこそできる革新的な試みと言っても過言ではありません。
先人たちには真似のできない、現代ならではの芸術的アプローチと言えるでしょう。

In addition to incorporating the existence of life of contemporary society into art works,
It is trying to symbolize the existence of “traditional culture” that is just advancing by his hand.
By “light up”.
ミスターお正月は、オブジェクトを「光らせる」ことによって、
現代社会の有り様を芸術作品に込めると共に、
彼の手によって今まさに進歩しつつある「伝統文化」の有り様を象徴させようとしているのです。
